I believe I have a full fledged physical addiction to coffee, similar to but not quite as strong as my addiction to cigarettes. When I go without coffee for awhile, I experience definite withdrawl symptoms. Also, in the morning I often become a little hyper even before drinking my first cup of coffee, as though my body has already anticipated the rush of caffeine. -Matt It’s actually not that crazy a theory .. If coffee tasted the way it smells I'd be all over it. Unfortunately it's stomach-rotting and nasty and tastes like liquefied shoe-leather laced with angora-bitters. Maybe the fungus in the coffee bean secretes a chemical that gradually destroys the part of the brain responsible for the sense of taste. IMHO ‘great coffee’ is an oxymoron. It is pretty nasty to think about all the build-up in the coffe maker, but i do the same thing.
