Wii Will Rock You

Wednesday, December 6th, 2006

This past Sunday my brother and I went halvsies on a Nintendo Wii and two games (Excite Truck and Marvel Ultimate Alliance). We got to Target around 7 a.m. and there were already 20 people in line (they open at 8 ). I have to give props to my bro for spearheading the effort, and especially for having the foresight to get there so early. I honestly thought it was overkill, but if we’d arrived even 30 minutes later we’d have been out of luck. Anyway, the system rocks. We played from 9 a.m. until about 1 a.m. with a few breaks in between. In total we logged about 12 hours of gaming that first day. Good times. :)

Mr. and Mrs. Miker

Thursday, November 23rd, 2006

I returned on Sunday from the wedding of my good friend Commander Miker and his lovely bride, Sam. It was a great time in a beautiful area, an event I’ll not soon forget. I’m afraid I drank a little too much, and as a result may have been shaken my booty a bit too zealously on the dance floor. :)

Anyway, congrats to the bride and groom. And oh yeah, Happy Thanksgiving!

Pluto

Friday, November 3rd, 2006

Plutonius Maximus, Twisted Black Maxta and Demonoid Spawn of Satan, is facing the biggest challenge of his kitty life. He was behaving strangely today–listless, subdued, yowling and digging around in the litter box–so we took him to the Blue Cross Animal Clinic, our family vet for last 15 years or so. (more…)

Storm Pounds Buffalo

Sunday, October 15th, 2006

As I drove home from work on Thursday, big, wet snowflakes were coming down, accompanied every few minutes by flashes of lightning and the loud crack of thunder. It was unusual weather at this time of year, even for Buffalo, but it didn’t seem extraordinary. Little did I realize that over the next twelve hours about two feet of heavy, wet snow would fall on our area, bringing down tree limbs and knocking out electricity to several hundred thousand homes. Mmm, Fungus!

Sunday, August 27th, 2006

I’ll let you in on a secret: I rarely clean my coffee maker. Maybe once a month, if that. I make a pot in the morning, and then generally leave the old coffee, filter and grounds in there until making the next pot when I get home from work. When I’m done I leave all the old stuff in there until it’s time for the morning pot again.

The funny thing is, whenever people come over and I fix them a cup of coffee, they invariably tell me “this is great coffee”. (more…)

Downgrade

Sunday, July 30th, 2006

I’m pleased to announce that Downgrade has been added to the Man@Machine page. This update was so simple and obvious that it should have happened sooner. I’ve been meaning to update the machine to use a flat screen monitor, and it was a chance to restore the basic, “iconic” nature of the original (known by some as the “iHorn” :). (more…)
