Dude News

Tuesday, March 28th, 2006

I just want to take a moment to give props to my buddies Voidious and Mikedude for two distinctly different accomplishments.

- Mikedude’s glorious kitty, Simon , recently appeared on Stuff on My Cat sporting an impressive collection of iPods. Look at that handsome old bugger!

- Not to be deterred by looming school project deadlines, Voidious’ relentless obsession with Robocode propelled him to the number one ranking in the “Robo Rumble”! He’ll tell you he’s technically only got the second best tank (out of more than 400 by the way) but we aren’t fooled. :)

Confessions of a News Junkie

Thursday, March 23rd, 2006

I remember walking into the office one day in March of 2003, after watching U.S. tanks on CNN the previous night as they rolled into Baghdad. In the days prior we’d been following the news, waiting for this invasion to begin. My co-worker, an intelligent, pragmatic liberal with whom I’d often discussed world events, inquired of me, “How was Gulf War 2″? With an air of flippant enthusiasm I replied “Way better than the original!(more…)

Internet Again

Tuesday, March 14th, 2006

Well I’m back on-line after more than two weeks without internet access (the problem was clerical, not technical; basically, Verizon screwed up.) Lack of internet access seems trivial compared to life’s larger problems, but it was a difficult experience, and it made me realize how much I take the ‘net for granted. I went through phases eerily similar to the “Stages of Grief”: denial, anger, depression and finally acceptance. At least it gave me a chance to play through some of the Mega Man X Collection, so I guess it wasn’t a total bust.

Anyway, it’s great to be back. See you around cyberspace!

Show and Tell

Sunday, February 19th, 2006

Ever since Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith came out, I’ve been overcome with the urge to acquire various Star Wars themed collectibles, primarily Hasbro action figures. Soon the desire expanded into other kinds of toys. Over the years I’d pick up a toy here and there if it looked cool or held some meaning for me, but this new obsession was altogether different. It began innocently enough–my brother and I had just seen the movie for the second or third time, and decided to check out Toys “R” Us and maybe pick up a keepsake… (more…)

Joke Becomes Reality

Tuesday, February 7th, 2006

A couple years ago I got a good laugh from reading this article at The Onion. It’s an “editorial” written from the point of view of a defiant Gillette CEO, claiming his company would make a five-bladed razor at any cost. Well, the joke has become reality. Kinda funny ain’t it?

Workshop

Friday, January 13th, 2006

I finally got around to adding a preliminary index of my design work (click here to check it out.) It’s not quite as comprehensive as what I envisioned, but it’s a start. Ultimately I’d like to include every single piece, but I’ve created so much crap over the years that it’s hard to know what’s post-worthy. I think eventually I’ll to have a page devoted to each core design, with links to all the variations it spawned.

I hope you see something you like!

Future Futurama

Wednesday, January 4th, 2006

Hey gang, Happy New Year! I’m pleased to announce that the blog is back up after a minor meltdown in October. Big thanks to Voidious for helping me get up and running again. A lot has happened since the last post–I hung out with Mikedoad, G-Dog and Ymerej all in a single day, scored 21 kills in a 5-minute Smash match, picked up a bunch of elusive Tac. Ops figures, and even got a new job. The Purge of 4560 wasn’t quite as successful as I’d hoped, but we’ll see what happens in ’06.

Anyway, here’s something that may actually be worth reading. Intelligence received via Voidious via Mikedoad suggests there may be some new episodes of Futurama in our future.

Until next time, Peace out!-
